Obituary

Richard W. DeArmond, 88, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2003 in the Lutheran Home at Toledo. Mr. DeArmond was born in Toledo on June 19, 1915 to Harold and Marie (Miller) DeArmond. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Richard was employed as a letter carrier for 45 years before his retirement in 1980. Mr. DeArmond was also a professional piano player since the age of 18. During the 1930's he had his own radio show on WSPD where he sang and played the songs of the day. During the 50's, 60's and 70's he was a member of the Lloyd Lewis Band. Richard also served as choir director for Faith United Methodist Church of many years. He was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance and a life member of the Toledo Federation of Musicians Local #15286. Surviving are his son, Thomas R. DeArmond, daughters, Kathleen (David) Noonan and Jeanne (Rex ) Browns; brothers, David S. DeArmond and Gerald Geise; 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen DeArmond and brother, Don DeArmond. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 am in Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH where family and friends may visit on Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Contributions in Richard's memory can be made to the Missions fund of the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Please make checks out to 1st Alliance Church and write C&MA missions fund in the note.
