Richard E. Fox, 58, of Oregon, OH passed away Monday, February 6, 2006 in his home. He was born May 12, 1947 in Oregon to Iva (Lehman) and Arthur "Cap" Fox. Richard attended Clay High School and the University of Toledo. A third generation Oregon farmer and devout Yankees fan, Richard supplemented farming with various jobs. He worked as a truck driver for Gradel Construction and France Stone, drove a bread route, and most recently worked at the Andersons TireMan.
Richard was a life-long member of First St. John Lutheran Church and president of the Laryngectomy Club of Toledo. He volunteered much of his time to anti-smoking programs in local schools, hospitals, and community organizations. Richard relished the notes and comments from young people who shared their struggles and successes.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Barbara; daughter, Lisa (Jason) Beymer; son, Michael Fox; brother, James (Janet) Fox; sister-in-law, Nancy (John) Merriam. Richard will be missed by nephews, Steve (Karen) Fox and Ryan (Jessica) Fox; nieces, Ellen (Chad) Ruddle and Anne (Don) Cook, the family of Thomas and Barbara Stewart, and "brother" Anthony Mominee. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Iva and Arthur Fox and brother, Donald.
Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Thursday from 4-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with interment following in St. John's Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of NW Ohio or the American Cancer Society.
