Richard H. Kautz, 85 of Toledo passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Richard was born in Toledo, Ohio to Rheinhold A. and Roxie (McEwen) Kautz on March 20, 1923. Richard graduated from MacComber High School in 1942 where he played basketball and was team captain. Richard was a WWII Air Force Veteran, being a member of the 425th Bomb Squadron. During his service to his country he was assigned to a B-24 as a nose gunner; known as the Flying Tigers. He had received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 7 Bronze Stars; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star; Air Medal with the Oak Leaf Cluster. He had worked for Doehler Jarvis for 43 years as a shift foreman. Richard was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He also was a lifetime member of Valleywood Golf Course where he made a hole in one. Richard was also an avid bowler, bowling a 300 game. Surviving are his daughter, Diane Sue (Tom); grandsons, Michael (Holli) Lones and Mark Lones, and the shining stars of his life, great grandsons, Michael Dennis and Chase Christopher Lones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa; parents; sister, Virginia Scott; brother, Wayne. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment following in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in Richards memory are asked to consider St. Mark Lutheran Church Capital Campaign.
