Richard E. 'œDick' Littlefield, 87, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Genoa Retirement Village.
Dick was born on December 22, 1924 in Sydney, Ohio to Michael E. and Mary B. (Duffy) Littlefield. He was a 1942 graduated of Waite High School. Dick served his country in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, where he earned 4 Bronze Stars and flew many missions in France. On December 3, 1948, he married Marjorie Lampley. After serving in the military, Dick began his career with Sun Oil Refinery, where he worked as a quality control supervisor and retired after 45 years of service. Dick enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and the Portage River in Elmore. He traveled into Michigan and Canada and enjoyed fishing on many of the inland lakes. He enjoyed bowling at the Toledo Sports Center and was also an avid golfer. For many years, Dick played on the Sun Oil hockey team. In later years, Dick and Marge enjoyed traveling; especially to Florida, South Carolina, and Las Vegas. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and enjoyed attending his grandchildren'™s sporting events. His true passion was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, which brought him much joy.
Dick is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marge; children, Debbie (Skip) Clark, Betsy (Jeff) Fausey, and Amy (Brian) Phelps; grandchildren, Chad (Ame) Clark, Chris (Jennifer) Clark, Craig (Mandie) Clark, Jeffrey (Annette) Fausey, Charley Fausey, Jay Fausey, Molly Phelps, and Mackenzie Phelps; great-grandchildren, Abby and Colton Clark, Paige Fausey, and Evie Clark; special nephews, Bill and Pat Laughlin. Dick is also survived by many loving family members and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas, and sisters, Sandy Littlefield, and Judy Neimre.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Thursday, June 14th from 4:00 pm until time of military honors at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be directed to the Waite High School Scholarship Fund.
