Richard L. 'œLivi' Livingston, 83, passed away on December 19, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Oregon Township on April 30, 1930 to Ora and Hazel (Cousino) Livingston. He graduated from Clay High School in 1948 and married Janice Elling on April 7, 1956. Richard graduated from the University of Toledo in 1958 with a Bachelor'™s of Education and received his Master'™s of Education from Mary Manse College in 1970.
From 1951 to 1953 Richard served in the US Army during the Korean War. Richard taught in the Oregon Schools for 30 years between 1958-1988. Twenty-eight of those years were at Fassett Junior High School and 2 years at Clay Jr. High School. After that, he supervised student teachers at Bowling Green State University as well as teaching at Owens Community College.
Richard was a 30 year member of the Oregon Federation of Teachers, past member of the Port Lawrence Lodge, Toledo Swiss Men and American Legion Post 537. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Janice; sons, Scott (Julie) of Whitehouse, OH and Michael Livingston of Moline, OH; daughter, Kristi (Kelly) Livingston of Colorado and grandchildren, Megan (Ben), Jim and Kaylie and great grandson, Isaac.
Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Rd., on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 12 noon until 8 pm. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 am on Monday in St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Rd. Toledo, OH where the family will greet friends after 9:30 am. Private interment will take place in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston, OH. Those planning an expression of sympathy in Richard'™s memory are asked to consider St. Mark Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor'™s choice.
