Richard V. Meinke "Rick" Richard V. Meinke, 58, of Curtice, OH passed away February 20, 2004. He was born in Port Clinton, OH on February 4, 1946 to Vernon and Hazel (Weidner) Meinke. Rick graduated from Clay High School in 1964 where he was an All GLL football player receiving many scholarship offers. Rick spent most of his life on Lake Erie fishing and working for the family business. He helped build Meinke Marina and was a commercial fisherman for Meinke Fishery. Rick's knowledge, experience and respect for the lake allowed him to run the nets under severe weather conditions. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State fan. Rick also was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church-Blackberry. Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Brenda; mother, Hazel Meinke; daughter Tina (Craig) Carr; step-children, Lisa (Joe) Braun, Dan Rife Jr., Lori (Kenan) Lorentz, Leslie (Richard) Knerr; brothers, Gary (Laraine) and Chuck (Becky); sisters, Margo (John) Wolff and Marcia (Bob) Amonette; uncle Earl (Pat) Weidner; aunt, Evelyn (Harry) Fasnaugh; 8 grandchildren; friend, Joyce Meinke; many nieces and nephews and will also be missed by his Labrador Ottis, who was his fishing companion. Rick was preceded in death by his father and daughter, Michelle "Miki" Meinke. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, OH on Monday, February 23, 2004 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. Peter Lutheran, Martin, Ohio, on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Expressions of sympathy in Rick's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, Leukemia Foundation or donor's choice.
