Richard M. Murphy, 78, of Millbury, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 5, 1931 to Daniel and Florence (Watts) Murphy. Richard was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. On June 18, 1955, he married Carolyn (Jane) Hicks and she survives. Richard was employed with LaSalle'™s and Macy'™s Department Stores as a warehouse worker for 36 years, retiring in 1984. He was a lifelong member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church where he served as church treasurer for many years. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren'™s sporting events. He also enjoyed playing euchre and coached softball. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn; children, Richard of Gastonia, N.C., Donald (Brenda) Murphy, Lori Turigliatto, and Kris (Scott) Lau; grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Matt, Mallory, Nick, Claire, and Justin; brother, Donald (Jane) Murphy; brother-in-law, Dean Kreps; nephews, Rob and John Kreps. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen Kreps.
