Richard D. Permar, 66, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 surrounded by his loving family in Ft. Myers, Florida. Dick was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 5, 1947 to Frank and Bessie (Dietz) Permar. He was a 1965 graduate of Woodward High School. On September 17, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Melvia Lindsey. Dick served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era. Dick worked in steel sales for Toledo Pickling and Ciralsky Steel for many years and later worked in the lawn and garden department at Sears. Dick and Melvia enjoyed listening to oldies music, especially The Watermelon Men and Phil Dirt and the Dozers who they faithfully followed since 1970. He enjoyed bowling and loved the game of golf. He was a longtime member of Sugar Creek Golf Course and Chippewa Golf Club where he hit a Hole in One on Hole # 9. After hitting his Hole in One, Dick was affectionately known by his grandchildren as 'œPapa Ace'. Dick also enjoyed playing cards, watching Jeopardy, and was always quick with a joke. His true passion was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends who he loved dearly.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Melvia; daughters, Betty (Dan) Base, and Michelle (Andrew) Schultz; grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, and Nicholas Base and Emelie and Carly Schultz; brother, William Permar; mother-in-law, Doris Lindsey; sisters-in-law, Carol Permar, Barbara (Pete) Atherine, Jeannie Lindsey; brothers-in-law, Robert (Sandy Russell) Lindsey Jr., David (Kathy) Lindsey, and Donald Lindsey; along with longtime dear friends David (Marrilee) Hitchen. Dick is also survived by many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Permar, and father-in-law, Robert Lindsey.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 2:00 pm '" 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Dick requested you dress in your favorite golf or casual attire to celebrate his life.
