Richard (Rich) A. Welsh, 78, of Oregon, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025. He was born on October 4, 1946, in Oregon, OH to Floyd "Butch" and Eleanor (Madden) Welsh.

Rich was a proud father and grandfather with a loving soul and a one-of-a-kind spirit. A graduate of Clay High School's Class of 1964, he went on to earn a business degree from the University of Toledo. In 1967, Rich was drafted into the U.S. Army and served honorably, including overseas in Germany, until his discharge in 1973. Following his military service, he worked as a machinist for Sun Oil Refinery, dedicating over 40 years to his trade.

Outside of work, Rich had a deep passion for cars — especially Corvettes — and was a devoted firearms enthusiast who enjoyed time at the shooting range and reloading ammunition. He was also an avid sports fan, never missing a game of the Guardians (formerly Indians), Browns, Buckeyes, or Toledo Rockets.

Rich was known for his fun-loving personality, his willingness to strike up a conversation with anyone, and his signature Hawaiian shirts. He also found joy in the simple things — especially watching and spending time with his grand dogs, Obi and Jedi, who brought him comfort and plenty of smiles in his later years.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Chris (Molly) Welsh, and his beloved grandchildren: Carter, Murphy, and Grady.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, OH 43616, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation in Rich's name to their local Veterans Affairs (VA) chapter.
