Richard W. Shank, 83, of Elmore passed away Friday, March 3, 2006 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in Deshler, OH on June 13, 1922 to H. Burgess and Jessie (Jaqua) Shank. He was a US Marine Corporal serving during WWII at Pearl Harbor. Richard was an electrician by trade working for many different unions across the country for 42 years retiring in 1984. He had traveled to all 50 states and many different countries. Richard enjoyed flying airplanes and tinkering around with electronics and the latest technology.
Surviving are his son, Douglas (Heidi) Shank; daughter, Josie (Wayne) Young; step-daughters, Sharon (Jim) Nowak and Cathy Cherry; sisters, Gladeen Calkins and Betty Teatsorth and many grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Pauline Croll and Margaret Hersey.
Graveside services will take place on Friday, March 10, 2006 at 11:30 am in Clay Township Cemetery. Following the services the family invites everyone to join them at the American Legion Post 324, 302 W. St. Genoa, OH for a luncheon and fellowship. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Richard's name are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The Shank family wishes to thank the kind people who cared for Richard through his illness. Especially the Elmore Medical Group, Dr. Joseph Roshe, Dr. Shakil Khan, The ICU and step-down staff of Bay Park Community Hospital, the Genoa Care Center and Hospice of NW Ohio.
