Richard S. Thatcher, 66, of Oregon, Ohio passed away April 22, 2010 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. He was born in Johnstown, PA on April 29, 1943 to Clement and Elizabeth (Parks) Thatcher. In earlier years, Richard had been employed at L.O.F. and Owens Corning. He then became the Safety & Health Coordinator at the University of Toledo, and retired in 2008 after 20 years of service. Richard was a certified safety professional and a member of American Society of Safety Engineers. In his spare time, Richard loved to golf and fish, but most of all he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Shelia (Graham) Thatcher; son, Joseph (Tami) Thatcher; daughters, Debbie (Michael) Heck, Mary (Jason) Fredritz, and Pamela (Robert) Lefevre; brother, Clement (Dwynne) Thatcher; sister, Linda (Bob) Gleason; grandchildren, Sam and Luke Thatcher, Justin, Caleb, Regan Heck, Jenna and Jake Fredritz, and Ben Lefevre. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Joanne, who passed away in 1996. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
