Richard L. Thayer, 78, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at his residence.  Richard was born in Toledo, OH on August 30, 1928 to Jay and Elizabeth (Frederick) Thayer.  He was employed by Schindler Haughton Elevator in the mailroom for 28 years retiring in 1993.  Richard was a naval veteran and a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.  He also was an avid Ohio State fan and a member of the Toledo Ski Club and Brown's Backers.   Surviving are his cousins, Natalie Naumann, Nancy (Wayne) Herkimer,  Pat Laston, Bill (Jeanine) Frederick, Glen (Marna) Freimark, Nelson (Bertha) Rohloff and Margaret Mauter, Norm (Barbara) Loeffler; special canine friend, Gus and a host of dear friends and other cousins.   Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday from 2-8 pm.  Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11am on Monday with interment following in Elliston Cemetery.  Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Richard's name are asked to consider St. Mark Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
