Richard R. Tippett, 85, of Millbury, Ohio, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, and Ottawa Lake, Michigan, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 5, 1928 to Steven and Ellen (Hazlett) Tippett. He attended Macomber High School before enlisting in the US Navy, where he served on the U.S.S. Midway. On September 16, 1947, he married Betty Lou Baldwin. Dick worked for many years as a brick mason and later worked as a driver for Roadway Express, retiring in 1993. Dick was a longtime member of the Conn Weissenberger American Legion, Lambertville American Legion, Maumee Elks and Maumee Eagles. He was also a member of Bricklayers Local 3 and Teamsters Local 20. Dick enjoyed spending time with his family at Barton Lake, Indiana where he would often be tinkering on his latest project. Dick and Betty Lou also enjoyed traveling; especially to London, England to visit family. Dick'™s true passion was spending time with his family at Barton Lake. Dick is survived by his children; Ronald (Sally) Tippett, Carol (Douglas) Blasingim, and Cindy Tippett; grandchildren, Tim, Chuck, Marie, David, Sheri, Ronald Jr., Anthony, Sarah, Bryan, Angela, Dominic, and Ashlee; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and brother, Robert Tippett. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Lou; sons, Richard and Steven Tippett; brother, John Tippett; and sister, Shirley Geddis. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (East of I-280) on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 3:00-9:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 12:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Paralyzed American Veterans or the Salvation Army.
