Rita A. Large, 80, of Toledo, Ohio passed away December 4, 2008 at the Lutheran Home at Toledo. She was born in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Thomas and Dorothy (Jacobs) Hastings. She graduated from Clay High School, Oregon, Ohio in 1945. Rita married Glenn Raymond Large in November of 1950. She was a statistical typist for the firm of Ernst & Ernst and retired in 1971. Rita and Glenn moved to St. Petersburg in 1986 and returned to Toledo in 1999. While living in Florida, Rita loved teaching Sunday school, was a Shepherd for her prayer group, and was involved in various charitable activities. She also loved to knit and make baby blankets and booties for the newborns at St. Ritas Hospital in St. Petersburg. Rita loved to play bingo and attend the monthly luncheons with her friends at the Mobil Americana Trailer Park where she lived. She said that living in Florida was the best time of her and Glenns life.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Denise Large, Toledo, Ohio; aunt, Eleanor Mickens, of Bluffton, Ohio; brother-in-law, Charles Large of Sylvania, Ohio ; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Glenn Raymond Large, parents, Thomas and Dorothy Hastings Munger and her beloved step-father, Francis P. Munger.
Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Monday, December 8, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in North Oregon Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Ritas memory can be made to the American Heart Association.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Lutheran Home at Toledo and the care helpers and staff at the Wright-Harvey House, Northwood, Ohio for the care, kindness and compassion provided to Rita.
