Robert D. Besgrove, Jr., 91, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. He was born on August 2, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Clay High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955. During his military career he was a chemical, biological and radiological staff specialist with the 1st Calvary Division, while stationed in Japan. He was employed as a piledriver and millwright since 1951. Later he was employed by Mosser Construction and worked as a superintendent on bridges throughout the state.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Neola Besgrove; his first wife, Virginia Ganues Besgrove; and sisters, Betty Trisel Sherry and Melva Besgrove. He is survived by his second wife, Dorothea Reynolds Besgrove; sons, Robert (Kimberly) Besgrove, III, David (Teresa) Besgrove, Mark (Christine) Besgrove; brother, William (Judith) Besgrove; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

His lifelong interest was motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidson bikes for which he had many over the years. He also enjoyed working on various homes in Oregon, Michigan and Georgia.

The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel – 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, OH 43616, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed in the form of contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Toledo Humane Society.
