Obituary

Robert George Bossert, 90, passed away peacefully at Heartland of Oregon on Wednesday, January 10, 2007. He was born March 24, 1916 to George and Viola (Rohner) Bossert. Bob graduated from Waite High School and Stautzenberger College. After induction into the army in 1941, he served as an infantry tech in the Pacific Theater of Operation during the Northern Solomon Campaign and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Badge.  Early in his army service Bob would wake his companions by singing operatic tunes. As a civilian, he continued to sing as a member of the Seaway Commanders. He also was a member of the Sacred Heart Choir. An avid bowler, Bob once bowled a perfect 300 game at H&H Bowling in 1962. He was employed in his working career at Pure Oil/Union Oil Company, retiring in 1980.   Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Helen; sons, Robert Jr. and James (Suzanne); daughter, Helen Patterson (Steve); grandchildren, Scott, Courtney, J.J., Jennifer and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard and daughter, Annette.   Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Sunday, January 14, 2007 from 2 -9 pm with a scripture service at 7 pm.  Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Monday at 10:30 am and proceed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Sacred Heart Church.  The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice and Heartland of Oregon.
