Obituary

Robert C. Briggs, 56 of Curtice, Ohio passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2006 in St. Charles/Mercy Hospital.  Robert was born in Fostoria, Ohio on September 9, 1949 to Karl and Betty (McCurdy) Briggs.  He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  On September 2, 1983 he married his loving wife Dianne Rollman Briggs.  Mr. Briggs had been employed for Seaway Foodtown Foods for 32 years before their closing.  He always said he left Foodtown and Went to Work for the Lord.  He was a member of Mt Carmel Catholic Church and the Northwood VFW.  Robert was an avid Toledo Storm fan and season ticket holder for many years. He also was a strong fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Browns but if you saw how he remodeled his basement you would see his first love was the Ohio State Buckeyes.  Bob also gave much time and talent to his church and was always there to work on the festival and he and his grandson were members of the church dartball team. But his greatest enjoyment came with spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.   Surviving are his loving wife, Dianne; mother, Betty J. Briggs; son, Mark (Kim) McElyea; daughter, Lynn (Bill) Dye; sister, Mary Briggs; mother-in-law, Gertrude Maw) Rollman; grandchildren, Korey, Katie, Kassey, Danielle and Joran Joe.  He was preceded in death by his father, Karl and brother, Roger Briggs.   Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd. on Tuesday from 5 to 9 pm and Wednesday from 2 to 9 pm. Scripture services will be Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.  The family will also great friends on Thursday beginning at 10:00 am in the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will conducted beginning at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mt Carmel Church, American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
