Robert L. Businger, 91, of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Parkcliffe of Northwood. Bob was born November 12, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Noble and Marjorie (Warns) Businger. Mr. Businger was a proud graduate of Waite High School, class of 1948 where he met the love of his life, Shirley Goodeman. Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Shirley May 2, 1953 and shared a lifetime of dancing and raising their family together. For 40 years, Bob worked at Sun Oil Refinery, retiring in 1989 as a manager of systems & material control. In retirement, Bob worked for National Memorial Stone Company, Lucas County Board of Elections, and served as a Hole Captain for the Jamie Farr and Marathon Classic Golf Tournaments until 2018. His hobbies included: golfing, bowling, weightlifting. Bob enjoyed traveling with his family and attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events and school activities. He was a founder of the W.A.I.T.E. Inc. Scholarship Fund and was a founding member of the Waite Has Beens Golf Group.
Bob is survived by his children, Dan (Cherrie) Businger, Tom Businger, and Julie (Stacey) Malcolm; grandchildren, Robyn (Nate) Schober, Beth (Tony) Meadows, Brooke (Brad) Marzec, Leeann Businger, Ryan (Samantha Castillo) Businger, Alysa (Ben Hannah) Malcolm, and Olivia (Derek) Belkofer; great-grandchildren, Trey, Cayden, Ava, Alayna, Madilyn, Lillian, Noah, Owen, Vivian, Audrey, and Emersyn; and brother-in-law, Don Magly. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; brother, Bill Businger; sister, Doris Magly; and great-granddaughter, Keira Ann Meadows.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Funeral services Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Interment: Lake Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to W.A.I.T.E. Inc. Scholarship Fund. Bob's family wishes to thank the staff of Parkcliffe of Northwood and Elara Hospice for their loving care and find comfort in knowing he is dancing with Shirley once again and on his way to the golf course.
