Obituary

Robert Lowell Conley Sr., 72, of Nugent's Canal, Port Clinton and formerly of Northwood, OH passed away September 27, 2006, in his home. He was born on May 14, 1934 in Swamp Branch, KY, Johnson County to Kermit M. and Pauline (Caudill) Conley. Robert lived in Detroit, MI from 1942 to 1945. He graduated from welding school in 1951, and moved to Ohio in 1952. Robert worked for the New York Central Railroad as a store clerk at Stanley yard, and then became an engine dispatcher. When the Penn-Central Railroad took over he worked in Lorraine, OH in the car repair department and then later for Conrail as a car foreman and wreck master, retiring in 1996. He was also employed at Sears for 3 years. On July 23, 1955 he married Bonnie Jean Weiland. They resided in Northwood, OH and had 3 children. The family had a cottage in Port Clinton, and Robert loved boating, camping, hunting and golfing. His memberships included Moose Lodge 1610 in Port Clinton, the Nugent's Canal Yacht Club, where he was Commodore in 1992 and then Blue Gavel president for many years. After retirement, Robert wintered in Bradenton, FL. He traveled extensively all over the U.S., mostly by motor home, to all the states, except Alaska. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Jean; daughter, Deborah Ann (Joe) Diamond, Northwood, OH, Jeanne Marie (Marc) Falco, Brandenton, FL; son, Robert Lowell (Scarlet) Conley Jr.; 8 granddaughters; 1 grandson and 5 great grandchildren; mother, Pauline Conley; sister, Carole Caudill, Oil Springs, KY, Wanda Lee Stambaugh, Burlington, KY, Violet (Glenn) Frisby, Springfield, OH, Juanita (Milton) Daniels, London, OH; brother, Kermit M (Joann) Conley Jr., Leander, KY, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit; sister, Alice and brother, Darrel. Visitation will be held at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury on Friday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m.. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Robert's memory are asked to consider Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH..
