Robert S. Darr, 89 of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Bob was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 3, 1932 to Sylvester L. and Clara M. (Mulkey) Darr. Bob was a graduate of Libbey High School. He served in the Korean War with the United States Marine Corps. In 1981, Bob married the love of his life, Marian, and together they built an amazing life of service to others. Bob retired from Ohio Bell where he was employed as a Special Services Technician. He was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon, as well as numerous other positions. As a proud veteran, Bob dedicated his life to his volunteer service supporting Veterans through various organizations including (but not limited to) American Legion Post 468 as Past 1st District Commander, Lucas County Council as Past Commander, 40 et 8 as Chef De Gare of Voiture 141, VFW 2510, Marine Corps League, Korean War Vets, AmVets #52, and Civil Air Patrol as Past Squadron Commander. Bob also belonged to the Telephone Pioneer Association.
Surviving are his loving wife, Marian; children, Dennis Darr, Robyn (Chet) Strawinski, Timothy (Kim) Darr, David (Rachel) Rancour, Paul (Pam) Ferguson, and Douglas (Dolly) Ferguson. Daughters-in-law, Lynn Ferguson, and Shaun Ferguson. As well as 35 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren. Siblings, Duane Darr, Jacqueline (Richard) Cornell, Terry (Loretta) Darr, Daryl (Jenny) Darr, and Michael (Diane) Darr, as well as many loving nieces & nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Charles Ferguson, Jr. & Bruce Ferguson; and sister-in-law, Helen Darr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 noon until 8:00 pm at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, Oregon, Ohio, where American Legion Services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, March 7 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Bob's name are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Memorial United Church of Christ.
