Obituary

Robert P. Dunlap, 87, of the Lutheran Home at Toledo and formerly of Millbury, OH passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2006 in St. Charles Mercy Hospital. He was born on September 6, 1918 in Sycamore, Ohio to H. Bruce and Virtue Ann (Nicholas) Dunlap.  Robert worked for Cooper Tire in Findlay, OH prior to serving in the U.S. Army in the China-Burma-India Theatre during WWII.  He married Betty J. Miller on May 3, 1943 and she preceded him in death on November 3, 2000 after 57 years of marriage.  He worked for the Matlack Corporation, Oregon, OH for 28 years as a shop foreman retiring in 1981.  Robert was a member of Garden Park Church for many years and most recently attended services at Heritage Christian Church of Oregon, OH and the Lutheran Home at Toledo.  He also held the positions of Provost Marshall and Judge Advocate with the China-Burma-India Veterans Association.   He is survived by his sons, Robert (Natalie) of Oregon, OH and Joseph (Diane) Dunlap of Riga, MI; grandchildren, Drew, Emily and Ian and sister-in-laws, Joann Connor and Helen Dunlap both of Findlay, OH.  Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and twin-brother, Richard W. Dunlap and brother, Nevon; sisters, Patty Dunlap and Phyllis O'Donnell.   There will be no visitation and services will be private.  The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the charity of the donor's choice.    Arrangements are being handled by the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury, OH.                           He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
