Robert Edward Gebhardt of Toledo, Ohio, born on May 6, 1933, passed away on April 20, 2007, at the Perrysburg Hospice of Northwest Ohio in the loving arms of his wife, Joan Gebhardt. The second child of Carl and Dorothea Gebhardt, born in Toledo, Ohio. Robert attended Ottawa Hills High School and received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Toledo. He served in the US Naval Forces in active duty from 1952-1956 and served in the Navy Reserve until he retired in 1996. He was active in the Toledo Transportation Club and Fraternity with his professional career as a sales manager in the transportation industry. He was a gifted piano player and entertained many on the keyboard. He also enjoyed traveling to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and spent many summers there vacationing with his family. He led a Christian life and attended services at Martin Luther Church. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan and his children, Deborah Hochstettler, Mary Ellen Jones, Kathy Dodson, Robert Gebhardt Jr., Polly Maroun, Susan Seibert and his 16 grandchildren, Brittany, Jason, Garrett, Julia, Griffin, Casey, Sarah, Bobby, Koryne, Gunner, Isabelle, Anthony, Stephanie, David, Amanda and Hannah. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 23, 2007, at 1 p.m. in Martin Luther Lutheran Church where the family will greet visitors after 12 noon. Reverend Larry Michaels will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any and all contributions be made to Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 601 Nevada, Toledo, OH 43605 .
