Robert F. Gerkensmyer, 93, of Williston, Ohio, passed away on October 3, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 23, 1925 to Amiel and Emma (Buss) Gerkensmyer. Robert moved to Williston when he was 3 and lived there for 88 years. He was a milkman for Sealtest Dairy and made deliveries with a horse and wagon. He also worked for Prudential Insurance as a Sales Manager. After retirement, he owned Gerkey's Another Place in Point Place.
Robert enjoyed fishing, watching Detroit Tigers baseball and telling stories of his life. He owned a cottage in Reading, Michigan on Long Lake, where he loved to spend time with his friends and family.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Terry Wilson; grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) and Robert Wilson; and great grandchildren, Korrin, Trent and Elijah Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Gerkensmyer; parents; and sister, Virginia Arnholt.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, October 8 in the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Allen Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert's name can be directed to Allen-Clay Joint Fire District or Genoa High School Athletic Department.
