Robert F. Hager, 93, formerly of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Perrysburg Commons in Perrysburg, Ohio. Bob was born, August 17, 1925 in Zelienople, Pennsylvania to Julius and Mary (Shomody) Hager. In 1926, the Hager family moved to Toledo, Ohio. Robert worked for Libbey Owens Ford from 1946-1948. From 1948-1986 he worked for Ohio Bell Telephone Company/AT&T. Bob served in the Army Air Force as an airplane and engine mechanic from March 1944 to Nov. 1945. He received the American Theater Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Robert belonged to Epiphany of the Lord Parish-St. Thomas Aquinas Church and was married there on September 20, 1947 and recently celebrated 71 years of marriage to wife, Blanche E. (Ankenbrandt) Hager. He belonged to the church's Holy Name Society for many years. Bob also belonged to the Ohio Bell Pioneers Association and to the Boy Scouts of America. Robert loved to fish and owned a couple of boats and was first mate on several charter fishing boats. He also loved music and loved to dance. Robert is survived by his wife, Blanche E. Hager; children, Carolyn (Martin) Marsh, Marilyn (Paul) Skotynsky, Beverly (Raymond) Panning, Robert J. (Joy) Hager; 10, grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, Julius Hager Jr., Irene Hill and Michael Hager. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Catherine Dombi, Margaret Cervenec, Elizabeth "Dolly" Bauer and Donald Hager. The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday, January 20, 2019 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm, with a prayer service at 4:00 pm. The family will also greet friends on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Epiphany of the Lord Parish-St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 729 White St., Toledo, Ohio 43605 from 10:00 am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society or Epiphany of the Lord Parish-St. Thomas Church.
