Obituary

Robert A. Johnson, 75, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away on September 15, 2008, at The Toledo Hospital. He was born in Wooster, OH on January 16, 1933, to Edwin and Florence (Shriver) Johnson. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until he was honorably discharged in 1962. After his separation from the Army, he served in the Ohio National Guard for 26 years retiring in 1994. Robert received a degree in business administration in 1959 from Kent State University and then was employed as a merchandise manager with J.C. Penney, salesman for Colgate Palmolive and most recently retired from the International Paper Company (Mellowcraft Division). Robert was a longtime member of First St. John Lutheran Church and most recently a member of Olivet Lutheran Church. He also was a life member of the Oregonian Club, and served as ombudsman with St. Charles Hospital. His hobbies included model railroad building and watching the OSU Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Browns. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, JoAnne; children, Kelly (Todd) Kranz of Dublin, OH, Eric (Molly) Johnson of DeGraff, OH, Dana (Dennis) Kiel of Sylvania, OH, Wendy (James) Davidson of Findlay, OH and Tracy (John) Schinharl of Sylvania, OH; sister, Phyllis (Ben) Steele of Waynesville, NC, and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don and Richard; sister, Donna Lehman and granddaughter, Leslie Johnson. Friends and family may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd, Oregon, on Thursday, September 18, 2008 from 5 until 8 p.m. Private funeral services will be conducted on Friday. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Robert's memory are asked to consider "Make a Wish" Foundation or Olivet Lutheran Church. Visitation: Thursday, 5-8 pm
