Robert L. "Bob" Johnson Jr., 85, of Moline, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018. Bob was born in Springfield, Ohio, on June 26, 1932, to Robert and Lena (Tarcshis) Johnson. In 1951, Bob graduated from Lake High School where he was a standout athlete and inducted into the Lake High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On July 24, 1954, Bob married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Margaret "Peggy" Nehay. Bob was a dedicated employee of the Sun Oil Company for 37 ½ years, retiring in 1987. An avid sports fan, Bob enjoyed following NCAA basketball, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers. He was a member of Walbridge VFW Post #9963,, Cooley Canal Yacht Club and particularly enjoyed fishing, bowling, and softball. Bob's true passion was spending time with his family; especially his five children and nine grandchildren and his canine companion Bruiser.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy; children: Drs. Sally (Ken) Johnson-Craycraft, Deb (Pat) Johnson-Denman, Kurt (Lori) Johnson, Scott (Michelle) Johnson, and Rob (Michele) Johnson; grandchildren: Chad (Krystle) Craycraft, Tyler (Rebecca) Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Clay Johnson, Mitchell Johnson, Jay Denman, Courtney Johnson, Curtis Johnson, and Matthew Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, April 23, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Lake Township Cemetery.
