Obituary

Robert Persiani, 74, passed away October 8, 2008 at the Lutheran Home at Toledo. He was born in Dillonvale, Ohio on September 7, 1934 to Marion and Josephine (Bett) Persiani.  Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had been employed as a conductor-brakeman for the Norfolk Southern Railroad for 45 years, retiring in 1998. Robert was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Oregon Senior Center, past-treasurer of the United Transportation Union Local 1928, and also was a past volunteer at St. Louis Helping Hands.  Bob loved gardening, woodworking, traveling, and watching his grandchildrens sporting events and various activities. He was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan and OSU fan. Bob was a very kind, patient and loyal man.   Surviving are his children, Mark (Anne) Persiani, Teri Volk, Tina (Jon) Minnick and Tom (Kristin) Persiani; grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Alexandra, Lou, Will, Anthony, Jessica, Melissa, Sarah, Dominik and Adriana; brother, John Persiani; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Pat Jeskey, John and Dana Jeskey and Marion and Delores Jeskey; aunt and uncle, Samuel and Lou Watson; special friend, Betty Farmer and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, son-in-law, Dennis Volk and brother, Serafino Persiani.  Visitation will be held at Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday, October 10, 2008 from 3 until  7 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Ignatius Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Roberts memory can be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church,  Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donors choice. Visitation: Friday, 3-7 p.m. Services: Saturday, 11:00 a.m.
