Robert P. Reed, age 85, passed away on September 17, 2009, at the Lutheran Home of Toledo after a lengthy illness, where he had resided the last 5 years. Formerly of Point Place, Bob worked for the Spicer Corporation during WWII. Later, Bob worked at Werkman's Hardware in Point Place as a manager, retiring in 1978. As a youth, Bob spent many summers with his grandparents at their cottage in Point Place. Bob enjoyed reading, fishing, and boating on Maumee Bay. Bob was an accomplished dancer and enjoyed dancing at the Trianon Ballroom in downtown Toledo, where he met his wife Loretta (Graf) Reed. Bob is survived by his son, Rick (Debbie) Reed of Northwood, Ohio; grandchildren, Todd (Tonya) Reed, Jason (Heidi) Reed; great-grandchildren, Darren, Matthew, Austin, and Abby Reed. Bob is also survived by a step brother, William Reed of Toledo, a step sister, Arlene (Red) Varner of Temperance, Michigan and Gerry (Joanne) Freeland of Myrtle Creek, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Jean Reed in 1996. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Friday, September 18th from 3-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2009. Entombment will be in Toledo Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Toledo Lutheran Home Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.
