Robert L. Rickman Sr., 73, of Toledo, OH passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Toledo, OH on December 31, 1933 to James and Nannie (Stump) Rickman. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He had been employed by LOF, for 30 years, as a group leader on the furnaces, and retired in 1985. Bob was a member of the VFW Post #2510 and the Arthur Daly American Legion Post #334. Robert was known for his ability to fix anything and enjoyed camping at Blue Grass Campgrounds. He also had a special love for airplanes and enjoyed making paper airplanes for his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley; children, Robert (Becky) Rickman Jr., Wendy (Rick) Perz and Bill (Tracy) Rickman; sister, Nancy Rickman; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jonathan; grandson, Robert Rickman III; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Friends and family may call at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-9 p.m. with VFW services Friday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
