If ever there were someone who could be described as a "stand-up guy" it was Bob Toth - always there for others with encouragement and a helping hand. Bob never said no to anyone and embodied all of the characteristics of a good neighbor and trusted friend. Robert J. Toth passed peacefully the morning of April 26 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Bob was born to John and Suzanne (Farkas) Toth on December 20, 1934. A 1953 graduate of Central Catholic High School, he was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Church, the VFW (Post 4906), a Boy Scout Leader and a member of the Birmingham Hall of Fame. At St. Stephen's, he was a Eucharistic Minister; he served Mass all through grade school and was an adult server after retirement.
He married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Bozsi" (Molnar) and they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage on April 7th.
Bob served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He was an amateur photographer who was devoted to his family and lifelong friends. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, country music, bird watching and since his retirement, developed a passion for golf. He loved his Tuesday golf outings with his friends and enjoyed gathering at the 19th hole to "solve the world's problems." He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Suzanne Liszak Imre, and brother, John. Besides Elizabeth, Bob is survived by his children, Robert (Renee) Toth, Laura (Harry) Kaiser and Pam Toth; six grandchildren who adored their Papa, Veronica (Joe) DeStefano, Marilynn (Tim) DeVries, Allyson (Nick Guerrero) Tscherne, Danielle Tscherne and Sam and Elaina Kaiser; four great grandchildren, Cooper, Scarlett, Lucy and "Little Man" Julian (two more on the way) and his loving brother-in-law Jim (Joan) Molnar and many loving nieces and nephews. Bob unselfishly gave to all of us a lifetime of love and laughter and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shaili Desai, Dr. Arjun Das and especially his chemo nurse, Cortney for their great care, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their help and support during these last difficult weeks. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am Monday, May 2 at Epiphany of our Lord (St. Stephen's Church, 1880 Genesee St. Toledo, OH 43616).
