Obituary

Robert A. Webb, beloved father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, October 14th, 2012 at the age of 94. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 15, 1917 to Harry A and Martha (Brown) Webb. A Clay High School Graduate of 1936, Bob then completed the Detroit Diesel Engineer'™s course and attended Toledo University. Bob enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and served in the first unit of Seabees, the navy'™s construction battalion. He served two tours of duty during WW II in the South Pacific, first in the New Hebrides, followed by the Admiralty Islands. He worked for George Gilsdorf Plumbing for 12 years and the City of Oregon for 22 years, where he was instrumental in building the city'™s water treatment facility and the Oregon Water tower. He retired in 1983 as Commissioner of Streets. Bob was a lifelong member of the Local 50 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, and on March 15, 2011, received his 65 year award from the Masonic Lodge. He was a long time member of First St John Lutheran Church where he served as trustee and was a member of the German American Swiss Society. He enjoyed gardening, reading, bowling, golf, dartball, and camping. Friends and caregivers remember Bob'™s kindness, graciousness and his sense of humor. He was married to Kathryn (Buck) Webb for 66 years, and she preceded him in death in January, 2011. He is survived by his children: Tom (friend, Patty) of Lithopolis, Ohio, Richard (Elaine Berger) of Tecumseh, Michigan, and Susan (Mark) Padley of Martin, Ohio; grandchildren, Matt (Lori) Webb, Jennifer (Brian) Hunter, Beth (Aaron) Yeager, Kimberly Padley, and John (Brigid) Padley; seven great-grandchildren, Dane, Isaac, Madison Webb, Evan & Sydney Hunter, Kathryn Elizabeth Yeager, and Lena Kathryn Padley. Visitation will be at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Rd., on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Elmore, Ohio. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
