Roberta A. "Birdie" Kerner, 84, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 23, 2024. Birdie was born at Riverside Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, November 14, 1939 to Elroy and Helen (Metro) Culver. She graduated from Clay High School in 1958 and Toledo Academy of Beauty Culture in 1959. Birdie owned Charm Beauty Salon on Main Street and later worked at Jenny Wren Beauty Salon on East Broadway Street, retiring in 1996. In 1960, she married Bernard Mitchell and shared three children. In 1982 she married Donald "Pete" Kerner. Birdie was a member of the Oregon Fire Station # 1 Flamettes Auxiliary and Arthur Daily Auxiliary #334 American Legion since she was three days old. She and her husband Pete owned the Bono Tavern for many years and was a longtime volunteer at Orchard Villa Nursing Home.
Birdie is survived by her children Kandy McGill, Robyn (Jeff) Mack, and Terry Mitchell; grandchildren, Mitchell (Amanda) Mack, JJ (Liz) Mack, Ashley Wagner, Michael Wagner; along with 6 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete; and brother, Dr. Robert E. Culver D.O.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440S. Coy Road, Friday, August 30, 2024 from 9:00 am until funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment: North Oregon Cemetery.
