Obituary

Roger Sayre, a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, Coach and proud Vietnam War veteran, passed away at his home, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering loyalty to his family and his country.

Born on September 12, 1948, to Londus and Flossie Sayre, Roger was raised with strong values of hard work, perseverance, and devotion. He bravely served his country in the Vietnam War, embodying courage and resilience that shaped his life and the lives of those around him.

For over 50 years, Roger was a dedicated employee at Johns Manville, where his strong work ethic and camaraderie with colleagues left a lasting impact. Beyond his career, he found joy in coaching baseball, sharing his knowledge and passion for the game with young athletes, teaching them teamwork, discipline, and a love for the sport.

Roger was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Lions. Whether celebrating a big win or standing by his teams through difficult seasons, his passion for sports was undeniable and contagious to those around him.

Above all, Roger's greatest joy was his family. He was a loving father to Bryan Sayre, Jamie Sayre (Amy), and Tiffany Podach(Joshua). As a proud grandfather, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren—Austin Herrera (Cameron), Brandon Herrera (Mariah Morris), Peyton Herrera, Isabella Podach, Braelyn Sayre and Brittney Lacourse (Howie). His legacy continued through his great-grandchildren, Austin "AJ" Herrera Jr. and Camila Herrera, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his sister Connie, his brother Carl (Judy) and his former wife Katherine Sayre with whom he shared many cherished memories.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Londus and Flossie Sayre, as well as his brothers, Larry and Jeff Sayre. Though they are no longer here, their love and influence remained ever present in his heart.

Roger will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, sense of humor, and the love he poured into his family and community. His impact will live on in the lives of those he touched, and his memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
