Rollie E. Gahler, 84, of Graytown, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Rollie was born in Curtice, Ohio, on November 28, 1928 to Edward J. and Bertha L. (Kaufman) Gahler. On May 17, 1950, he married Viola Wasserman. Rollie was a lifelong farmer and also worked as a drainage tile contractor for over 70 years. He operated a dairy farm with his brother Lyle and a milk delivery route for Page Dairy during the 1950'™s. He also served on the Benton Township School Board for two terms. His memberships included: Ohio Farmers Union, Ottawa County Farm Bureau, and the Northwest Ohio Milk Producers Association. Rollie was named by the Ottawa County Soil & Water Conservation District the 2003-2004 Cooperator of the Year. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Elliston, where he served as deacon, elder, and treasurer. In later years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Vi to Florida, Alaska, and Hawaii. His true passion was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rollie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Viola; children, Wes (Judy) Gahler, Ken Gahler, Ed (Jane) Gahler, Dan (Connie) Gahler; grandchildren, Dave (Lindsey) Gahler, Allen (Susie) Gahler, Jody (Joe) Kapp, Jason (Ruth) Gahler, Heidi (Chris) Ankney, Kendra Gahler, Brice (Amber) Gahler, Janene (Jared) Lattimore, Kelsey Gahler, Andrea (Jayson) Hayes, Beth Gahler, and Eric (Ashley) Gahler; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lyle (Dorothy) Gahler, Calvin Gahler, and Edith (Bill) Carson. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280 on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ, 17955 West Third Street, Elliston, where the family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Elliston Cemetery.
