Ronald J. Mauter, 68, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016, surrounded by his family. Ron was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 19, 1947 to Alfred and Virginia (Peckham) Mauter. He was a 1965 graduate of Cardinal Stritch High School, where he served on the 50 year reunion committee. At age 19, Ron began a 45 year career with the Toledo Blade, retiring in September 2012. On October 30, 1999, he married Jennifer Roberts. Ron was an avid collector of records; especially 45's, which led him to becoming a member of the Toledo Record Show for the past 30 years. He was currently serving as president of the East Toledo Historical Society and co-authored several books on the history of East Toledo. Ron is survived by his wife Jennifer; daughters, Alison (Ben) Bradley and Andrea Round; step-son, Tom (Brooke) Roberts; grandchildren, Alexis, Luke, and Sadie; and sister, Barbara (Joseph) Nowakowski; along with many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00 am in Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 601 Nevada Street, Toledo.
