Ronald W. Pfeiffer, 81, of Graytown, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at his farm on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Ron was born in Williston, Ohio on September 12, 1935 to Wilbur and Mabel (Nissen) Pfeiffer. In 1953, Ron graduated from Salem-Oak Harbor High School. On February 23, 1957, he married the love of his life Ann Bittner. Faith, family, and farming were Ron's greatest passions, and he lived a life of service to each. Ron was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and served on the building committee and church council. As a young man, Ron served in the 112th Ordinance National Guard of Port Clinton for six years and was later a member of the Oak Harbor Rotary Club. Ron's love of farming began as a child and grew to a respected career in agriculture spanning seven decades and earning several recognitions, including: Outstanding Cooperator of the Year in 1982, Ohio No-Till Farmer of the Year in 1995, National FFA Distinguished Service Award in 2004, Entrepreneurial Award from the Ottawa County Improvement Corporation in 2007, many awards through Oak Harbor FFA, and was elected to serve on the Ottawa / Lucas Counties' FSA committee 2007-2016. Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Ron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann; daughters, Rebecca Tank and Judith (Robert) Brown; grandchildren, Dr. Jason ( Stephanie) Tank , Dr. Justin ( Kerri) Tank, and Jessica Brown; great-grandchildren, Owen, Everett, Audrey, and Dominik; sister, Donna ( Ronald ) Willoughby; along with many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Pfeiffer; and son-in-law, Timothy Tank.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, (east of I-280) on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10:30 am in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 17877 West State Route 579, Martin, where the family will greet friends beginning at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Elliston Cemetery. A catered lunch will be served at the church following the cemetery committal service.
