Ronald Rowland, 73, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2016. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 26, 1942 to Joseph and Gloria (McGovern). He married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Altenbaugh) on September 14, 1968. R.J. was a businessman who owned and operated his own construction company building many homes in Oregon and Perrysburg, Ohio. After retiring from the construction business the love of cars motivated him to open his own dealership, R.J. Auto Sales. He owned and operated this business for many years until 2012. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Ron was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Cooley Canal Yacht Club and an active member of the American Legion and AM Vets. Ron and his wife enjoyed fine dining at various restaurants throughout Northwest Ohio. R.J. was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan but was extremely passionate about The Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed boating, golfing, tinkering on cars, but most importantly cherished the memories he shared while fishing and being with his grandchildren and family.
Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth; daughters, Lori Rowland, Robin (Jim) Huss; sisters, Penny (Maury) Collins, Bonnie (Mark) Shambarger; brothers, Richard Rowland, Dean (Michelle) Rowland; grandchildren, Jimmy, Izzy, Colin and Jacob Huss; nieces, nephews as well as his business partner and best friend, Joe Lehmann. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road (east of I-280) on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. The family will greet friends on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church from 10:00 am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
