Surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family, Ronald J. Sattler, 70, passed away August 27th after bravely fighting years of illness.
Ronnie was born in Toledo to Henry and Cecilia Sattler, who both preceded his passing. He graduated from Morrison R. Waite High School in 1958 to join the U.S. Air Force. Stationed mostly in Germany, Ronnie loved his country and served with the 49th Air Police Squadron, Airman First Class. Ronnie returned to Toledo in 1962 to fall in love and marry Judith Pierce, who stood by his side with undying support and care through life and illness.
He was employed for 30-plus years by GM Powertrain as a production set-up operator. Through 7-day weeks of hard work and Judy'™s support at home the two built a strong home and family on Toledo'™s Eastside. Although Ronnie gave it up years ago, his true leisure passion was walleye fishing. He was also known to drive east with Judy at moment'™s notice to Atlantic City for some slot machine action. Most recently, Ronnie'™s enjoyment came from watching college and pro football with family, consuming his share of national news and debating politics. He'™s certain the Yankees will win the pennant this fall.
Also passing before Ronnie, and instrumental to his childhood, were his grandparents Henry, Sr. and Margaret Sattler and his Aunt Rita Clements. He missed dearly his good buddy and pinochle partner Robert Stemen.
Surviving loved ones include his sisters Patricia (Don) Neidigh and Dolores (Robert) Stemen, and his Uncle Arthur Clements. Missing him today are children Pamela (Robert) Toedter, Caroline (Scott) Shoemaker, David (Rebecca) Sattler and Tara (Scott) Rau. Ronnie'™s character and selflessness live on through grandchildren Robert, Kathleen, Melissa, Kennedy, Daniel, Joshua, Regan and Anya. He loved them all so dearly.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at Eggleston-Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31st. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., with Father Martin Donnelly officiating.
