Ronald (Ron) Edward Schultz of Millbury, Ohio, and also Curtice, Ohio, and Orange Park and The Villages, Florida, passed away in Toledo, Ohio on October 8, 2024, at the age of 86. Beloved husband for 66 years of Phyllis (Hickman), who survives. Father of Suzanne (Richard) Zalesak, Cyndy (Michael) Fiser, and Eric (Elizabeth) Schultz. Loving grandfather of Jason Hineline, Stephen Zalesak (Brittani Bylon), Nina Zalesak (Pearu Unga), William Fiser, and Adam and Annabelle Bonfield-Schultz.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Marian (Redrup) Schultz, and brother Richard (Marcia) Schultz.
Ron was born January 16, 1938, Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from Waite High School in 1956. After graduating, Ron started his career in railroading with C&O, Chessie System, and CSX. After working and raising a family in Toledo and Curtice, Ohio, Ron transferred with CSX to Jacksonville, Florida, retiring in 2000. Ron and Phyllis relocated to The Villages, Florida in 2002, where they spent many fun and active years before relocating to Ohio in 2017.
Ron was a Past Master of the Rubicon Lodge 237, and was a Knights Templar. He did years of fundraising for Shriners Hospitals for Children with Zenobia Shriners in his 1950 Willys-Overland Jeepster.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf, scoring multiple holes-in-one. He and Phyllis were world travelers, enjoying Oktoberfest in Munich, ziplining in Costa Rica, and visiting Hawaii, Alaska, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, and the Panama Canal. He enjoyed watching Ohio State Football, was an avid jogger and bicyclist, completing TOSRV and several other century rides, bicycling in Europe, and regularly riding with The Villages bicycling group, riding up to 150 miles many weeks, even into his seventies. He and Phyllis took many cruises and were Jacksonville Jaguars inaugural season ticketholders and loved their tailgate parties.
Vistation will be held Monday, October 14, 2024 at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe Street, Sylvania ,Ohio
