Obituary

Rose E. Sohasky, 91, passed away on September 7, 2018 at Otterbein Portage Valley in Pemberville. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 17, 1926 to John and Catherine (Boda) Churko. Rose's family moved from Hungary and settled in the Hungarian Colony in Toledo. Rose's mother passed away when she was 4 and the Daughters of Divine Charity, a Catholic Hungarian orphanage located in Detroit, took her and her sister Mary Ann in. After graduating from high school in Staten Island, NY, Rose moved back to East Toledo and married Joseph Sohasky. They were married for over 44 years and had 3 children. Rose first worked as a dictaphone operator for DeVilbiss before becoming a Central Service Technician for St. Charles for over 22 years. She was also a member of Altar Rosary at St. Stephens Church and a past president of the American Legion Auxilary Post 533 in Rossford. Rose is survived by her children, Gerald (Norma) Sohasky, Judith (James) Schuessler and Jerome (Lisa) Sohasky; grandchildren, Tina (Todd), Dane, Valerie, Evan, Racquel, Veronica, Joseph and Logan; great grandchildren, Nathan, Maddie, Caleb and Ella; and sister, Sr. Mary Lawrence Churko. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant son; and siblings, Margaret Kiss, Paul Csurgo and Andrew Churko. Friends may gather at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Visitation will also be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 11 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions can be directed to Memory Lane Care Services, 2500 North Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615. Rose's family would like to thank Mermory Lane Care Services and Mary Brinker at Otterbein Portage Valley in Pemberville for their wonderful care. May the winds whisper for you to hear, that we'll always love and miss you, And wish that you were here, Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day, Close in our hearts you will always stay, Loved and remembered every day.
