Rosemarie Mapes, 88, passed away on August 8, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, OH. She was a longtime resident of Perrysburg, Ohio. She was the daughter of Andrew and Blanche (Smith) Webb; born December 3, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio. She attended Monclova High School and received her GED in 1978 at the age of 50. She married Leo R. Mapes on June 22, 1946 after he came home from WWII at Historical Collingwood Presbyterian Church, Toledo, Ohio. Rosemarie retired from The Divine Word Seminary, Perrysburg Township, in 1981.
She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Perrysburg, Ohio. She was an avid Bingo fan, playing cards with her favorite being Bridge, where she played at the Perrysburg Senior Center with her friends. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, especially her rose garden for many years. Rosemarie was involved with various bowling teams at the Everglades Bowling Center, Perrysburg, Ohio and read romance novels in her spare time. After retirement, she spent her summers at various lakes in Michigan and Indiana in an Airstream Trailer and later years spent her winters in Cape Coral, Florida. She also enjoyed spending time at the Perrysburg Senior Center, playing cards and bingo with her friends.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Oberhaus; son, Jeffery (Leah); grandchildren, Holly (Brad) McCormick, Marcus Monday, Braden, Avery, and Emerald Mapes; great grandchildren, Brad, Hannah, Blake McCormick; sister, Dana (Robert) Seim; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 yrs. in 2011; brother, Andrew Jr., son-in-law, Gary Oberhaus, grandson, Jeffery Mapes Jr. and her parents.
Services will be conducted at Toledo Memorial Park, Chapel of Chimes Mausoleum on Friday, August 11 at 12:30 p.m. In Lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or The First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are being handled by Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel.
