Roy Smith Jr., 83, of Freetown, Indiana, passed away on February 16, 2026. He was born on September 17, 1942, in Waynesboro, Tennessee, to Roy Smith and Effie Mae Smith. He later resided in Toledo, Ohio, before moving to Freetown, Indiana. Where he spent his final days. Roy retired from Jeep after 30 years of dedicated service. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane (Conner) Smith; his daughter, Sonya Smith; his grandson, Matt Tatum; his parents, Roy Smith and Effie Mae Smith; and his brothers, James E. Hurst, Charles H. Smith, Elbert L. Smith, and Guy Smith.

He is survived by his children, Heather Marshall, Roger Smith (Jenilyn), and Kathy Tatum; his grandchildren, his pride and joy, Courtney Marshall (Cory), Corey Marshall (Tasha), Joshua Tatum, Chesney York (Tyler), and Kennedy Smith; and his sister, Beulah Mae Evans. He also leaves behind extended family members and loved ones who will cherish his memory.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, OH 43616. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Roy will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery, where he will rest in peace beside his beloved wife.
