Ruth A. Purdy, 83, of Toledo passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2009 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Purdy was born in Toledo on September 17, 1925 to Guyus and Minnie (Bristow) Clifton. She was a graduate of Waite High School. Over the years she had been employed at Hunts Foods, Legas Market, LaSalles and Tiedkes Department Stores. Ruth was a dedicated member of Northwood Church of God. Her love and love of God touched many lives as Youth Conselor, Childrens Church Director, Sunday School Teacher and member of WCG. She was also a member of the choir and assisted her husband as a custodian. Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Elbert Purdy; daughters, Diane (Jim) Frost, Judy (Jay) Jeffries; son, John (Patricia) Purdy; grandchildren, Kimberly (Michael) Schaefer, Kelley (Michael) Wheeler, Pam (Tom) Willhardt, Becky (Tom) Kalucki, Steven (Camille) Jeffries, Joe Jeffries, Christina Purdy and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Viva Jean Wood, Marcella Fry and brother, Donald Clifton. Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road where visitation will be from 2 to 9 pm on Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00am in Northwood Church of God, 1838 S. Coy Road with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions in Ruth's memory be made to either Northwood Church of God or the Walkway Fund at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
