Ruth E. Slovak, age 93, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on October 11, 2017 at Lane Park Assisted Living Community, Oregon, Ohio. She was born on July 19, 1924 to Paul and Olga (Kontak) Beshalske. In March of 1946 she married Robert Slovak in Elliston, Ohio and he preceded her in death. Ruth was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School in 1942. She graduated from the Maumee Valley Hospital as a registered nurse in 1945 and completed the training for the Cadet Nurse Corps. Ruth was employed at the Maumee Valley Hospital, Blanchard Valley Hospital, Sun and Gulf Oil companies as a relief nurse and the Luther Home of Mercy. She and her husband also served in the Peace Corp in Jamaica.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Liza Hirzel of Luckey, Ohio, Nancy Slovak of Oregon, Ohio and Roberta Slovak-Farison of Oregon, Ohio; grandchildren, Henry Hirzel of Perrysburg, Oh, Jacob Hirzel of Brooklyn, NY, Nick (Sarah) Farison of Urbana, IL, and Kylie Farison of Charleston, IL; sister-in-law, Jeanette Beshalske. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son-in-law, John Hirzel; brothers, James, Donald, William; sisters, Joanne and Betty.
