Ruth Ann Wineland, 88, passed away on June 1, 2015, peacefully at her home. Ruth was born on May 29, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Martin and Lena Fernolend. Ruth graduated in 1944 from Morrison R. Waite High School in Toledo, Ohio.
In 1946 Ruth married her high school sweetheart, Richard Wineland. Ruth and Richard raised 6 children and have 30 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth volunteered with and supported the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, YMCA, YMCA Storer Camps, and other youth centered organizations. Ruth was especially fond of young children and babies. She would never pass up an opportunity to hold an infant or babysit and mold a young child's character with her love. She was an advocate for healthy living by recommending to anyone who would listen, an assortment of vitamins, minerals, or natural foods such as bean sprouts.
Ruth was a lifelong member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, of Toledo, Ohio where she taught Sunday school for many years. Ruth also worked part time at Interlake Steel.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Martin; sisters, Elizabeth, Helen and Mary. She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Kay Nicodemus (Lee); sons, Richard (Karen), Mark (Janet), Martin (Christine Frugh), David (Julie) and Arthur.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Road, Toledo, Ohio 43605 at 1:00 PM, where the family will greet guests at noon. Following the service will be the interment at Willow Cemetery, 1961 Pickle Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in Ruth's name to St. Mark Lutheran Church, or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
