Samuel E. Gamble, 85, of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 24, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 21, 1937 in Darby, Pennsylvania to Robert and Jeanie (Young) Gamble. In 1955, Sam graduated from Waite High School and served proudly in the United States Army. On April 22, 1961, he married the love of his life, Sheila Nassar. Sam was a journeyman pipefitter with Local 50, working on countless projects throughout the region including: Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Toledo Hospital and Owens-Illinois World Headquarters. A proud union member for over 60 years, Sam served on the executive board, apprentice board, and member of the retirees group. Sam held numerous leadership positions with East Toledo High 12 and Lotus/Paragon Masonic Lodge and was recognized for 50 years of membership. He was an accomplished model railroader, collector of rock and roll music, enjoyed working sudoku & jigsaw puzzles, was an avid bowler, and card player. His greatest joys came from traveling to warm destinations throughout the United States and camping with his grandchildren. Sam will be remembered for his sense of humor and willingness to help those in need.
Sam is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sheila; children, Samantha Gamble and Samuel Scott (Danielle) Gamble; grandchildren, Felix Samuel and Beatrice Rose; sister, Agnes Prodan; sister-in-law, Mary (Terry) Breymaier; along with numerous nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends at Local 50. Preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Masonic Lodge service at 7:00 pm. Funeral services Friday, December 30, 2022 at 12:30 pm in the funeral home. Interment: Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or East Toledo High 12. Sam's family wishes to thank the staff of Promedica Bay Park Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their loving care and compassion.
