Under the care of her family and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Sandra S. Baumann, 78, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, July 9, 2016. Sandy was born in Cassville, Missouri January 30, 1938 to Thomas and Jeannette (Doerfler) Smith. In 1956 she graduated as valedictorian of her Willard High School class and earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. August 18, 1962, she married A. Otto Baumann II. Sandy was a dedicated member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Toledo, where she was active in the church women's group and was a 28 year member of the choir. For twenty years Sandy supervised for Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center its court advocates in Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood counties as the advocates assisted victims of domestic violence. In 1999, Sandy received the Zonta's Woman of Achievement award for Toledo and Lucas County. Previously to her work with the Abuse Prevention Center, Sandy served as a social worker with the East Center for Community Mental Health (now Unison) working with the elderly in reality therapy. Sandy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Rev. A. Otto Baumann II; daughter, Alison Lynn ( Kevin Mock ) Baumann; son, William McConnell Baumann II of Salt Lake City; granddaughters, Alexis and Elizabeth "Ellie" Baumann; sisters, Nancy Smith and Roxanne Zess; along with many loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Allan Smith. Friends may call at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 1:30 pm in St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Road, Toledo, where the family will greet friends beginning at 12:30 pm. Private interment will take place in McPherson Cemetery, Clyde, Ohio.
