Obituary

Sandra R. Bloomquist, 71, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Lima, Ohio on June 30, 1940 to Francis and Mary (Corcoran) Bloomquist. Sandra received her Bachelor'™s Degree from Mary Manse College and taught at Findlay St. Michael'™s, Lima St. John'™s and St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church where she retired after 26 years. She also worked for 25 years at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in the Emergency and Radiology Departments. Sandra was a member of St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir. Sandra was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society serving as a volunteer non-paid Executive Director helping the community with basic food, medications, clothing, etc. She was actively involved with Catholic Charities, CYO, Catholic Work Heart Program, Birmingham Development Corp., and NHS of Toledo NeighborWorks Association and Toledo Grows Community Gardens. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Valentine and Stranahan Theaters. In 2007, Sandra was inducted into the Birmingham Hall of Fame as a distinguished citizen for her works of service to the community. Sandra is survived by her sister, Frances 'œKaren' Murphy of New Jersey; brother, Lawrence 'œBranny' Bloomquist of Georgia; sister-in-law, Judy Bloomquist; aunt, Patricia Corcoran; special friends, Barb Kovacs and Robbie Tucker; her many furry companions. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Thomas. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and where Rosary services will take place at 4:00 p.m. and St. Vincent de Paul Vincentian Wake Services at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 30, 2012 at St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church, 2018 Consaul St., Toledo, at 11:00 a.m. and where family will greet visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Sandra'™s name are asked to consider St. Stephen'™s Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul Conference or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
