Sara Ann Monhollen-Trost, 54, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 30, 1969 to Stanley and Georgiann (Dehabey) Monhollen. Sara graduated from Woodward High School, class of 1988, and would go on to earn a BA Degree in English from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, and a BA Degree in Psychology from Lourdes College in Sylvania, OH. In 2017 Sara received the Calvin M. Woodward High School Alumni Hall of Fame Award. Sara was employed for many years at the Hirzel Canning Company (Northwood, OH) as the Director of Human Resources. She played an important part in developing their HR Department, which was nonexistent at the time she was hired. She went on to direct all human resource operations. She treated her employees like family, and was a great encourager, problem solver and advocate for her workers and their families. Sara was a lifelong member of the Echo Meadows church of Christ where she served as the second and third grade teacher for over 30 years, and was honored with the Teacher of the Year Award. She also served many years as a Youth Advisor. Sara loved to sing and you could recognize her gorgeous alto voice in the room immediately. Her faith was every important to her and evident throughout her life. What she cherished most was spending time with her husband and loving family. She especially treasured time with her beautiful niece, Izzy. She made sure to attend all the family gatherings and she will be dearly missed.
Sara is survived by her husband, Ben, mother, Georgiann Monhollen, sister, Victoria (Monte) Bandeen; step-son, Reid Trost; niece Izabelle (Izzy) Clyce, and many other loving family members. Sara was preceded in death by her beloved father, Stanley Monhollen.
