Sarah L. Porter, 94, of Toledo, Ohio passed away June 6, 2013 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 10, 1919 to Julius and Priscilla (Lengel) Bertok. Sarah was a stay at home mom for years and then began working part time for Food Town, retiring in 1984. Surviving are her children, Sandra (James) Wilkins and Patricia (Tom) Fitzgerald, Doug (Cindy) Porter; grandchildren, Amy Duvall, Stacey Wessner, Aaron Wilkins, Chad Fitzgerald, Andrew Wilkins, Sean Fitzgerald, Kristen Porter and Sara Porter; 10 great grandchildren. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Burton Porter; sister, Priscilla Toth: brothers, Julius, William, Gabriel and Paul Bertok. She was a lifetime member of Calvin United Church of Christ. Her father, Julius was a founding member. Since it was established in 1903, there have always been descendants of the Bertok family on the membership rolls. Sarah was active with the Lorantffy Ladies and the Kolbasz Auxiliary. Sarah also enjoyed baking, making noodles and nut rolls with her church family. She was a wonderful, caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who made everyone feel special. Sarah'™s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She always had a smile to share. Friends may visit at the Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road on Sunday, June 16, 2013 from 12 noon-5 p.m. with prayer services at 4 pm. Memorial services will be conducted in Calvin United Church of Christ on Monday June 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, any expressions of sympathy in Sarah'™s memory may be given to Calvin United Church of Christ.
